I recently moved to Flagstaff from out of state and have been looking for a stylist. I am a natural blonde and have had my hair dark the past couple of years. Before I had moved, my long time hair stylist started taking me lighter. In a session she got me to a deep copper color using a level 10 developer and put a Demi on top so it still looked decent. When I had gone to One of the stylists at Thairapy, I felt confident in what we were working towards as we had an extensive consultation where I had told her I had been lightened a few months back and would love to one day be blonde but I want to go slow as to not damage my hair. A week prior to the appointment I had given her a hair inspo pic to see if it would be possible. At the morning of the appointment when we were talking, I literally said “throw the inspo pic out I can be patient because the most important thing to me is keeping the integrity of my hair.” We chatted about my ends being dry as well in the consultation. Unfortunately, I was overall unimpressed with the results as she had let the bleach sit on my hair for over an hour checking it once twenty minutes in and had another client to wash and blow dry as my hair is processing. During the entire time with her other client, she did not check my foils once. After she put a mask on my hair because my hair “was pretty dry” we went back to the chair and I watched as she brushed my hair pulling melted overprocessed hair clumps out of my head. I was in shock and could tell my stylist was stressed as she started talking about how this must have happened from whatever my previous stylist did. Reminder, I gave the stylist my complete hair history prior to any product being placed. I ended up paying $175 plus tip after as she had another client right after me and I had not quite processed what had happened. I did reach out to the stylist to talk about a hair cut because all of the places where my over bleached hair melted off felt very obvious. We booked it but morning of I felt nervous about everything that had happened and reached out explaining why I would not be continuing my services with her. I suggested a partial refund for the damage done, yet she said she was unable to do that but instead she could give me hair repair product recommendations instead. I have never written a negative review before as I would much rather deal with it in private. I believe my stylist was over booked and did not manage her time well that morning which led to this. I understand people are human and stuff happens but the lack of ownership and refusing to make it right was upsetting. I wish the stylist the best and wrote this so there could be some accountability taken.

Alyssa did a fantastic job with my haircut. She listened to what I was wanting, made suggestions and took the time to cut exactly as we discussed. She also had recommendations for products to keep my hair healthy and looking it's best. I will definitely return.

I have gone to Alyssa for a few years now for both myself and my 4 year old. She’s amazing with small children no matter how squirmy they get :)

I found this salon through Google and noticed that Alyssa had a lot of positive comments so I booked with her. I have been going to the same hairstylist for the past 20 years so seeing someone new was a little nerve wracking. However, I felt completely comfortable once I met Alyssa. She was upbeat and friendly, listened to what I wanted, and also gave suggestions and recommendations. She made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. I ended up doing something a little different than normal based on her recommendations, and I love it! Even my husband commented that he prefers the way Alyssa did my hair vs my longtime stylist. :-) Alyssa is a perfectionist and it shows. I will definitely be back!

I recently moved to the Flagstaff area and really needed someone who could cut short curly hair. Alyssa at Salon Thairapy did a fabulous job! She was able to match my previous color and made sure I was satisfied with my cut. Thank you so much, Alyssa!
